We are delighted to share that the Student Committees of the AALA (Asian Association for Language Assessment) and ALTAANZ (Association for Language Testing and Assessment of Australia and New Zealand) are jointly hosting a webinar on academic publishing. In the webinar, Prof. Yan Jin (Co-Editor-in-Chief of Language Testing in Asia) and Dr. Ikkyu Choi (Associate Editor of Language Assessment Quarterly) will discuss publication process, effective practices, challenges, and strategies for successful publishing. Prof. Yan Jin - Co-Editor-in-Chief of Language Testing in Asia:

Yan Jin is a Professor of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Over a career spanning more than three decades, she began as a language tester in the early 1990s and has since played an important role in the development and research of large-scale, high-stakes language assessments. She currently serves as the Chair of the National College English Testing Committee of China. She is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Language Testing in Asia, a Springer open-access journal, and is a member of the editorial boards of several prestigious academic journals both in China and internationally. In 2021, she received the Cambridge/ILTA (Cambridge Assessment/International Language Testing Association) Distinguished Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field.
Dr. Ikkyu Choi - Associate Editor of Language Assessment Quarterly:
Ikkyu Choi is a Managing Senior Research Scientist at ETS Research Institute, where he co-leads a research program dedicated to the valid, reliable, and fair use of AI for assessment. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of California, Los Angeles. His research leverages statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and natural language processing techniques to develop automated item generation capabilities and bring about associated content workflow innovations. He has published widely across multiple disciplines and received the 2019 Best Article Award from the International Language Testing Association (ILTA). He has also served on various ILTA committees and on the editorial advisory board of the NCME Instructional Topics in Educational Measurement Series. He is currently serving as an associate editor of Language Assessment Quarterly.
